John Butler, Executive Creative Director
As executive creative directors at BSSP, John and Mike Shine are responsible for the creative output of the agency. John previously worked at McCann Erickson, J. Walter Thompson, Chiat\Day and Goodby, Silverstein & Partners. While working at Chiat, he met his partner of 20 years, Mike Shine. The pair moved out West for senior positions at Goodby, where they met partner Greg Stern, and in 1993 opened Butler, Shine, Stern & Partners. John is a former One Club president and currently resides in San Rafael, CA with his wife and two children.
Mike Shine, Executive Creative Director
As executive creative directors at BSSP, Mike and John Butler are responsible for the creative output of the agency. Mike previously worked at DDBNeedham NY, Chiat and GSP. While working at Chiat, he met his creative partner, John Butler. The pair moved West for senior positions at Goodby, where they met Greg Stern, and in 1993 opened BSSP.
Greg Stern, Chief Executive Officer
As CEO of BSSP, Greg looks after general agency and client management as well as the strategic direction of the company. After graduating from Brown University, Greg worked with Ogilvy in New York, Hong Kong and Indonesia. He met John and Mike while working at Goodby and later joined them in starting BSSP. Greg is the father of two girls and sits on several boards, including the 4As and SFJazz.
Patrick Kiss, Managing Director, Partner
At BSSP, Patrick manages client relationships, leads the account management function and spearheads the agency's business development efforts. He joined BSSP in 2003, after working at Foote, Cone & Belding, San Francisco, and Ogilvy & Mather in New York, Australia, Hong Kong and London. Patrick lives in San Francisco with his wife, son and daughter.
Lynda Richardson, Media Director
As media director, Lynda is the media strategy lead and oversees all media planning and buying for clients including MINI, Priceline, Greyhound, Take Care Health Systems and Columbia Sportswear. She began her career at McCann Erickson, Ogilvy & Mather, and Foote, Cone & Belding. Before joining BSSP, Lynda worked on the client side as media director for Microsoft. Lynda is an avid world traveler, who's been to such places as Uganda, Indonesia, Peru, Bolivia, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Tunisia and Morocco.
Edward Cotton, Director of Strategy
Ed joined BSSP in 1999. As director of strategy, he leads brand strategy development efforts for our clients, including consumer research and data analytics. Ed also started one of the earliest and most popular marketing blogs,
www.influxinsights.com. Prior to coming to BSSP, Ed worked at McCann Erickson in Europe, then in Seattle. In his spare time Ed is an avid amateur photographer.
Neal Zimmermann, Executive Design Director
Neal oversees the design group at BSSP, including development of brand identity, collateral materials and retail experience. Neal began his career as a designer at Levi Strauss & Co. Later he co-founded Zimmermann Crowe Design/VehicleSF. And later founded ZDI Design, which was acquired by BSSP in 2005. Neal lives in San Rafael with his wife and three children, and a small collection of vintage vehicles.
John J. Sheehan, Group Business Director
John is the business director on RadioShack and Columbia Sportswear. Prior to BSSP, John worked at J. Walter Thompson, New York, and Foote, Cone & Belding, San Francisco. John hails from Pittsburgh, and is a passionate Steelers fan. He lives with his wife, son and daughter in nearby San Rafael.
Adrienne Cummins, Director of Broadcast Production
Adrienne oversees Cleaver Productions, BSSP's production company. After beginning her career in postproduction, she became a producer for Carmichael Lynch, and later for Weiden+Kennedy, BBDO, Leagas Delaney and Goodby, Silverstein & Partners. Adrienne and her husband are avid sailors, and have sailed the Mississippi River.
Chris Cardinal, Group Business Director
Chris joined BSSP in 2003 as the account lead on major accounts, integrating the agency's advertising, online marketing, design and strategic planning functions. Prior to joining BSSP, Chris was with J. Walter Thompson and the interactive shop Tonic 360, both in San Francisco, and before that he was at the Austin, Texas based GSD&M. Chris attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
Denis joined us in March 2008. He previously held the same position for five years at the independent agency Wieden+Kennedy in Portland, Oregon. Prior to W+K, Denis spent nine years at Saatchi & Saatchi in San Francisco.
Amy has led our Human Resources department since 2003. She has been instrumental in helping to manage the agency's growth as BSSP has more than doubled in size since she joined. Amy joined BSSP as part of our acquisition of SF Interactive in 2003.
Tom Coates, Associate Creative Director
Tom Coates is ACD on Columbia Sportswear, Mountain Hardwear and YouTube. He began at BSSP in 2005 working on Converse, LucasArts and whatever else was put in front of him. Before bringing his word processor to Sausalito, Tom was a writer at Leagas Delaney SF (now defunct), an ACD at See (now defunct) and spent a couple of years freelancing at many places (hopefully not all defunct). He lives in Mill Valley with his wife and two sons.
J.P. Guiseppi, Associate Creative Director
J.P. co-runs the RadioShack account, and while at BSSP has helped develop such brands as Converse, MINI, SUN Microsystems, Epson, Priceline, Greyhound, Diageo, Take Care Clinic, Columbia and RadioShack. J.P. began his career in 2002 working as a designer for various design firms in Dallas, Texas. In 2005 he came to BSSP and worked his way from the design group into an ACD position. In his spare time, J.P. is a cat lover, a music enthusiast, a slumlord, an artist and generally enjoys making things with his hands.
Mike Hughes, Associate Creative Director
Mike Hughes is an associate creative director, overseeing the work on several accounts. It's been eight years since he came to BSSP, by way of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he is originally from. Outside of work you'll find him trail running in the Marin headlands, cycling, kayaking and tackling the outdoors in and around the Bay Area. He also has an affinity for art and loves staying engaged with the art community in San Francisco.
Steve Mapp, Associate Creative Director
Steve Mapp joined BSSP in 2006, and oversees creative output on MINI and Priceline. Prior to joining BSSP, Steve worked at Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, Crispin Porter+Bogusky, Leagas Delaney, and Roche Macaulay & Partners in Toronto. Steve lives in Mill Valley with his wife and young son.
John Reid, Associate Creative Director
John Reid is an ACD at BSSP, and oversees creative on RadioShack while contributing to other accounts as well. Prior to BSSP, he worked at Crispin Porter+Bogusky. In his free time, he enjoys riding bikes, sailing boats, and building brands.
Lyle Yetman, Associate Creative Director
Lyle is the associate creative director/writer on MINI. He has been at BSSP for 5 years. Before that, Lyle was a graduate student at VCU. He lives nearby in Sausalito.
